Academics
Students enroll in 12-14 units of college credit in classes designed to enhance the study abroad experience and maximize the benefits of living and studying in Spain. Most classes meet general education requirements and are transferable for a bachelors degree. Courses are taught by faculty from your home college or from colleges that are members of the Southern California Foothills Consortium and can include Salamanca based instructors. Students are encouraged to enroll in a Spanish course, but Spanish is not required.
Eligibility
Students from all community colleges and universities are welcome to participate in the Spring 20121 Semester in Salamanca, Spain, if they meet eligibility requirements. Eligibility to participate in the program requires a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in at least 12 units of previous college level course work completed at Citrus College or students' home institution. First year students enrolled in 12 units may be accommodated. Call the Study Abroad Coordinator at (626) 914-8560 if you have questions regarding eligibilities.
Application & Registration
Students apply to participate by submitting an American Institute of Foreign Study (AIFS) application and deposit to their study abroad coordinator. If a student does not currently attend a member college, the application should be submitted with official transcripts to Lynn Jamison, Citrus College Study Abroad, 1000 W. Foothill Blvd., Glendora, CA 91741.
If a student is deemed ineligible for academic reasons, the deposit will be returned by the Southern California Foothills Consortium for Study Abroad.
Registration materials are mailed to applicants by Citrus College after the AIFS application has been received.
Financial Aid - Important
Financial aid is available to eligible students and is processed at Citrus College for students who are going to register for Citrus classes held in Salamanca, Spain. Students must add Citrus College to their FAFSA (code 001166) and return the Request for Financial Assistance and FERPA form for Salamanca, Spain (located in your Semester in Spain packet) to Julie Martinez, Citrus College Financial Aid, 1000 W. Foothill Blvd., Glendora, CA 91741.
The Citrus College Financial Aid Office will begin processing financial aid applications as they are received.
If you have already applied for financial aid for the 2011-2012 school year, please make sure Citrus College is listed on your Student Aid Report (SAR). If Citrus is not listed, you must add Citrus College to your application. Add Citrus College online or call the processor at (800) 433-3243 and add Citrus College, school code #001166.
If you have not applied for financial aid for 2011-2012, you need to complete the 2011-2012 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can file the FAFSA electronically through the Web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ Do not forget to mail in the printed signed certification sheet when filing electronically. Be sure to list Citrus College Title IV Code 001166 on the FAFSA.
If a student is a Cal Grant recipient, it is their responsibility to submit a 'Grant Record Change Form For Students' (G-10 form) to CSAC (California Student Aid Commission) indicating the semester the student will be changing to Citrus College. The student MUST ALSO SUBMIT the school change BACK to their home school for the following semester. Students who fail to notify CSAC may lose their Cal Grant eligibility.
Students who are attempting to receive financial aid must have submitted all supporting documents requested to complete their file. Citrus College Financial Aid Office will send award letters to students after all documents are received and verified.
Do not delay completing applications, forms, and responding to our letters requesting further information or you may jeopardize your chances for receiving an award letter by the deadline.

The Southern California Foothills Consortium for Study Abroad is a cooperative venture among the community college districts of Antelope Valley College, Barstow Community College, Citrus College, College of the Desert, Crafton Hills College, Mira Costa College, Mt. San Antonio College, Mt. San Jacinto College, Palomar College, Rio Hondo College, San Bernardino Valley College, and San Diego City College.
