Dial Up Users Instructions (Windows)

DATABASE ACCESS INSTRUCTIONS for DIAL-UP USERS from OFF campus only.

1. First, obtain a Citrus Photo ID in the Library, then obtain a USER NAME and PASSWORD in the Open Computer Lab in IS 107.

2. At home, connect to the Internet.

3. Go to the Citrus College Library Home Page

4. Configure your browser (configuring only has to be done the first time):

INTERNET EXPLORER FIREFOX VERSION 1.0.4 (for ver 2 or higher see below)
Click on the TOOLS menu bar on Internet Explorer. Click on TOOLS in the menu bar at the top.
Select INTERNET OPTIONS. Now, click on OPTIONS.
Click the CONNECTIONS tab. In the OPTIONS menu, click on CONNECTION SETTINGS.
Click SETTINGS (next to your dial-up connection). Click on the radio button next to Manual Proxy Configuration.
Check the box, "Use a proxy server." In the white box next to HTTP: type in libpx.citruscollege.com
In the address box, enter libpx.citruscollege.com In the box to the right, under Port, type 80.
In the PORT box, enter 80. Now, click OK.
Click OK. Click OK again in next window.
Click OK again.  
FIREFOX VERSION 2.0 and HIGHER
Click on TOOLS in the menu bar at the top.
Now, click on OPTIONS.
Click on ADVANCED.
Click on NETWORK.
Click on SETTINGS.
Click on the radio button next to Manual Proxy Configuration.
In the white box next to HTTP: type in libpx.citruscollege.com port 80
Click OK.
Click OK again in next window.

5. On the Citrus Library Home Page, click on Databases/Journal Articles.

6. A box appears. Enter your User Name and Passwords.

When finished using the databases, remove the checkmark next to proxy.
