How do I contact the instructor, Mr. Harvey?
What do I do first?
During the first week send me an email at seosamh@roadrunner.com and jharvey@citruscollege.edu telling me that you have gotten everything you need and are ready to go or telling me what you need and, if possible, how I can help. It would also be helpful to sign on to the Blackboard Learning System so you can begin to get familiar with your classmates. Finally, check announcements in Blackboard for any relevant recent information.

How do I turn in assignments?
You should set up a timeframe for turning in your assignments. There are ten of them and the term goes fast.
Using Email - Each assignment must be done in MS Word or Word Perfect format. Set font to 12 point and double space all work. The heading of each assignment should at least include your name, assignment number, and a title. Using the email feature of Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, attach the file to your email message and send it to both addresses. Make sure all assignments are sent to seosamh@roadrunner.com and jharvey@citruscollege.edu. To insure that your email is not discarded as SPAM, make sure you put ENGL 101 or Engl 101 on the subject line of your email.
This is an online class designed for the Internet. However, in extenuating circumstances, I will allow alternative methods of contact. Please get permission from me before using any of the following.
Disks - You may hand deliver disks to my office in ES 607. Mark them, put them in an envelope, and leave them in the box outside my door. They will be returned in the same manner. It may be some time before disks are marked and returned.
Paper - Typed assignments are acceptable if placed in an envelope and left in my box in ES 607. Under no circumstances will I accept hand written work.
Mail - You may mail typed or computer generated assignments along with stamped, self-addressed envelope to the following:
Joseph Harvey
Citrus College
1000 W. Foothill Blvd.
Glendora, CA 91747 - 1899
How will my work be graded?
-
All MS Word and Word Perfect files will be returned with comments.
-
Papers will be graded with variations of A, B, C, and R.
-
A paper marked R is unacceptable and requires revision. You will find suggestions for revision in the annotations.
How do I name my files? (for email and disk)
The file name for each assignment should include your name and the assignment number, and an R if it is a revision.
Examples:
MS Word - Jonhson2.doc, Diaz3r.doc, Fsmith4.doc (Use first initial if there are 2 with same name.) Any other naming mehtod will be confusing.
Word Perfect - Johnson2.wpd, Diaz3r.wpd, FSmith4.wpd (Use first initial if there are 2 with same name.) Any other naming method will be confusing.
