Glendora, CA (Women’s Soccer) – The Citrus College Lady Owl’s soccer team out-shot Canyon’s College 12-7 on Tuesday night, but neither team scored as they played to a 0-0 tie. Both Citrus goalie Kimberly Breazeal and Canyons’ goalie Danielle Michel recorded five saves in the stalemate.
The Lady Owl’s seemed to control the tempo for much of the game, as they kept the ball on their side of the field. In the second half alone, the Lady Owl’s fired off eight shots, compared to Canyons’ three. Citrus also earned seven corner kicks to the Cougar’s two, none of which proved fruitful for either squad.
Citrus’ best opportunity came late in the second half. With a two on one situation, Jessica Caruso dribbled the ball up the right side of the field, drawing out Cougar’s goalie Danielle Michel. With the goalie out of the goal, Caruso had a wide open Kourtney Mount streaking in on the left hand side. Caruso fired, but Michel made a spectacular block, turning away the Citrus advance.
With the tie, Citrus’ record moves to 6-2-3 and 1-2-3 in Western State Conference play. The Lady Owl’s will continue to search for their first WSC South win as they travel to Bakersfield, CA this Friday for a 4:00 PM showdown with the Renegades of Bakersfield College.
