Santa Barbara, CA (Women’s Golf) -- The Citrus College Women’s Golf team kicked off their 2010 season this weekend at the South Coast Invitational hosted by Santa Barbara City College at Olivas Links Golf Course. The Lady Owls played against some top tier schools and finished fourth out of the five participating WSC colleges.
Freshman Janae Macias led Citrus into the clubhouse this weekend with an opening round score of 110 and second round score of 102. Her combined 212 would place her first among all Citrus golfers this weekend. Finishing just behind her was sophomore Janelle Del Mundo who shot a 107 in the first round before shooting a 118 on day two. Her two day total of 225 was 16 strokes ahead of the next Citrus competitor.
Saddleback College ended up winning the event shooting a two day team score of 633. Irvine Valley College would finish second with a score of 657, while Canyons College was the top WSC school, finished tied with Irvine Valley at 657.
The Women’s Golf team will take the next week off before resuming conference play two weeks from now on Monday September 13th. Citrus will take on the rest of the Western State Conference at the WSC Event hosted by Santa Barbara at the Santa Barbara Golf Club.
