    PR’s Rule Day for Citrus at Inland Meet

    Valley Glen, CA (Track and Field) -- On a day in which the Citrus College Men’s and Women’s track and field teams both finished last at the WSC Inland Meet hosted by LA Valley College, all was not lost for the Fighting Owls. Despite a poor team showing, the Fighting Owls boasted five personal records on Friday.

    Leading the way in PR’s were the men who four personal records broken throughout the day, despite finishing with less points than the women. Johnnie Chatman was the day’s big winner, scoring for the Fighting Owls in two separate events. Chatman finish 6th in the Hammer Throw (112’ 4”) and 4th in the Discus (124’ 1”). His throw in the discus was a personal best.

    Also turning in PR’s and scoring on Friday for the men’s team were Manual Darby in the Javelin (6th, 128’ 1”), Adrian Rodriguez in the 400M Dash (4th, 50.47) and Tyler Hopkins in the 200M Dash (22.04). Hopkins PR’ed in the 200 a week after PR’ing in the 100M Dash last week at the AVC Invite.

    For the women, Brooke Brown posted the day’s lone scoring PR. Brown took 3rd in the Javelin with a throw of 98 feet 8 inches. Despite being the only PR, she was not the only Lady Owl to score for Citrus. Cassandra Zolozabal nabbed 5th in the Hammer (99’ 7”) and Maya Avant took 3rd in the Triple Jump (10.79M).

    The Fighting Owls will take the next week off, before participating in the WSC Prelims on Saturday April 24th. The meet will be hosted by Ventura College with events beginning at 12:00 PM.
