Head Coach Brandon Rivas
Former Fighting Owl Brandon Rivas begins his first year as the Head Coach of the Citrus College Men’s Water Polo program. Rivas becomes just the program’s third head coach in its history.
Rivas who played for the Fighting Owls in 2007 has spent the last three years as the top assistant for the Women's Water Polo team, and is just the third Head Coach in the history of the Men’s Water Polo Program.
After finishing his playing career at Citrus, Rivas made the move to the bench where he has assisted the Citrus women's team. In that span the Lady Owls made back to back WSC Championship game appearances.
An accomplished high school player, Rivas played three varsity seasons for nearby Charter Oak High School earning 2nd team All-CIF honors in the process. Upon graduation from high school Rivas played one season for Pomona Pitzer before transferring to Citrus as a sophomore where he scored 12 goals and recorded three assists.
Rivas is married to former Citrus College Women's Water Polo player Crystal Fabela, and resides with her and their son Desmond in Covina.
Assistant Coach Tony Pearson
Assistant Coach Tony Pearson begins his first season with the Men’s Water Polo Program. Pearson played two solid seasons in goal for the Fighting Owls between 2006 and 2007. Pearson left Citrus with 443 saves in his career earning 2nd team All-Western State Conference honors as a freshman and a sophomore.
Pearson also spent two seasons on the Citrus College swim team, taking 4th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke and 2nd in the 200 Yard Breaststroke at the 2009 WSC Championships. He played a pivotal role in helping lead the Fighting Owls to a 2nd place finish; their best ever finish in the WSC. Pearson spent his high school days at nearby Charter Oak High School earning a reputation as a defensive stalwart.
